Do you know if they have valid copyright notices on them? You should be able to see them either at the opening or closing credits. A VALID copyright notice contains the following:
A.) the copyright symbol or the word "copyright"
B.) the year of publication
C.) the name of the person or company that created it

To be a valid copyright notice it needs to contain A, B, and C. If one of those is missing, the notice is invalid. When I first started uploading, I used to think because it was put out by Sinister Cinema it was PD, but learned early on that that was incorrect. The larger percentage of what SC puts out is not PD. Check your movies for notices before you do anything. If you find notices, pull them.

Looks like "Young Couples Only" isn't PD, either...what do you think? The notice is at the beginning of the show:

http://www.archive.org/details/youngCouplesOnly

It doesn't have the word "copyright" but it does have the symbol, year, and company.

If it has all that, then it's copyright. Sorry, Cos. But your heart was in the right place. Don't let it discourage you from bringing more stuff.

The moral of the story: SC doesn't have a clue what's PD and what isn't!

Two "amens" are always better than one! Go for three? ;)
